Synopsis/Plot
Escape to Victory is a 1981 sports-war film directed by John Huston and starring an ensemble cast of Sylvester Stallone, Michael Caine, Max von Sydow, Daniel Massey, and Pelé. The film follows a group of Allied prisoners of war during World War II who are interned in a German prison camp. The prisoners hatch a plan to escape by playing in a soccer match against a team of German officers.
The film opens with a group of Allied prisoners of war being transported to a German prison camp. The prisoners, led by Lt. John Colby (Sylvester Stallone), include American, British, and French soldiers. The prisoners are put to work in the camp, but they also find time to practice soccer. Meanwhile, the German commandant of the camp, Major von Steiner (Max von Sydow), is ordered to organize a soccer match between a team of German officers and a team of Allied prisoners of war.
The prisoners are initially reluctant to participate, but Lt. Colby convinces them that it is their only chance of escape. They agree to play, and Lt. Colby assembles a team of talented prisoners, including an aging French soccer
