Synopsis – What to Expect from “Escape to Athena”
Escape to Athena is a 1979 action-adventure war film set during World War II. The film follows a group of Allied prisoners of war who are being held on a Nazi-occupied Greek island.
Led by Major Tufnell (Roger Moore), the prisoners hatch a daring plan to escape the island and steal a priceless collection of ancient artifacts from the Nazis. The group is joined by a trio of local resistance fighters, including the beautiful Athena (Tina Louise).
The group must battle their way through the Nazi forces and find a way to get off the island. Along the way, they must contend with the island’s treacherous terrain and the Nazi commander, Colonel Von Ingorslebon (David Niven).
The group eventually makes it to the mainland and makes their way to the Nazi headquarters. There, they must battle their way through a heavily-guarded compound in order to steal the treasure.
The group makes it out with the treasure, but the Nazis are in hot pursuit. In the end, the group must make a daring escape across the sea in order to reach safety.
Escape to Athena is an exciting action-adventure film with plenty of thrills and spills. It is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end.
