Ernest Scared Stupid is a 1991 comedy film starring Jim Varney as the beloved character Ernest P. Worrell. The film follows Ernest as he attempts to save the small town of Briarville from an evil troll named Trantor, who is out to exact revenge on the townspeople for imprisoning him centuries ago.
The story begins with Ernest and his friends, Vern, Billy, and Ashley, playing a prank on their school principal. Unbeknownst to them, the prank awakens Trantor, who was sealed away in a tree trunk. Trantor then proceeds to turn the children of Briarville into wooden dolls, and Ernest must find a way to save them.

Along the way, they must face a variety of obstacles, including a giant troll, an evil witch, and a powerful sorcerer.
