Synopsis – What to Expect from “Equals”
Equals is a science fiction film set in a dystopian future where emotion has been eradicated. It follows Silas (Nicholas Hoult), a young man who lives in a society where everyone is equal. People have no emotion, no love, no fear, no pain, no joy, and no individuality.
Silas is a member of the Equals, a group of people who are genetically engineered to be emotionless. But when he begins to feel emotions, he is diagnosed with SOS (Switched-On Syndrome), a rare condition that allows him to feel emotions. He is sent to a rehabilitation center to be cured, but instead he meets Nia (Kristen Stewart), another member of the Equals who is also suffering from SOS.
Together, Silas and Nia discover a way to escape the oppressive system and find a place where they can be free to feel and love. As they explore their newfound emotions, they must also find a way to protect themselves from the authorities who are determined to keep emotion suppressed.
The two of them set out on a journey of discovery, learning to trust each other and find the courage to fight for their freedom. They must also face the ultimate question: is it worth risking everything for a chance at true happiness?
Equals is a thought-provoking and visually stunning film that explores the power of love and emotion in a world where they have been suppressed. It is a beautiful story of hope
