Synopsis – What to Expect from “Enduring Love”
Enduring Love is a 2004 British drama film directed by Roger Michell and starring Daniel Craig, Rhys Ifans, and Samantha Morton. The film is based on the novel of the same name by Ian McEwan.
The film follows two men, John Logan (Daniel Craig) and Jed Parry (Rhys Ifans), whose lives become intertwined after a freak accident. John is a science writer who is in a happy relationship with Claire (Samantha Morton). One day, while out in the countryside, John and Claire witness a hot air balloon accident. John and a group of bystanders rush to the scene to help, but the balloon’s gondola catches fire, and one of the passengers is killed.
Jed, one of the bystanders, is deeply affected by the tragedy and develops an obsession with John, believing that the two of them share a spiritual connection. Jed begins to stalk John, and John’s life begins to unravel. He becomes increasingly paranoid and distant from Claire, and eventually his relationship with her breaks down.
Meanwhile, Jed’s obsession with John grows, and he becomes increasingly unhinged. He begins to believe that he and John are destined to be together, and that if he can just get close enough to John, he can make him understand the bond between them.
John is eventually forced to take drastic measures in order to escape Jed’s clutches. In the end, John is able to break free from
