Synopsis/Plot
Emma is a romantic comedy-drama film directed by Autumn de Wilde and written by Eleanor Catton. The film stars Anya Taylor-Joy, Johnny Flynn, Bill Nighy, Mia Goth, Josh O’Connor, Callum Turner, and Miranda Hart. The film is based on Jane Austen’s 1815 novel of the same name.
The film follows Emma Woodhouse, a wealthy, young woman living in the English countryside. Emma is a matchmaker, believing she can find a suitable husband for her friend Harriet Smith. However, her plans often backfire and she finds herself in a tangled web of her own making.
The film follows Emma as she navigates the social circles of the English countryside and attempts to find true love for herself and her friends. Along the way, she meets a variety of characters, including her own family, the wealthy and snobbish Mr. Elton, and a mysterious stranger named Frank Churchill. As the film progresses, Emma’s matchmaking attempts become increasingly complicated, leading to a series of humorous and romantic misadventures.
