Synopsis/Plot
Elvis is a 2005 biographical film about the rise of the legendary singer and performer Elvis Presley. Directed by Baz Luhrmann, the film stars Jonathan Rhys-Meyers as Elvis, with supporting roles by Rose McGowan, David Keith, Randy Quaid, and Robert Patrick.
The film follows Elvis from his humble beginnings in Tupelo, Mississippi to his rise to fame as a rock ‘n’ roll legend. It chronicles the struggles he faced in the music industry and his personal life, including his struggles with drugs and his marriages.
The film begins in 1955, when Elvis is a young, unknown performer. His talent is quickly recognized by Colonel Tom Parker (Robert Patrick), who takes himunder his wing and helps him become a star. The film follows Elvis as he begins to gain fame, and as he struggles with the pressures of fame and his own personal demons. Along the way, he meets and falls in love with Priscilla (Rose McGowan), who eventually becomes his wife.
The film ends with Elvis’ death in 1977, and a final scene showing him being reunited with his beloved Priscilla in heaven. Elvis is a poignant and powerful story of one of the most iconic figures in music history and how his music and legacy continue to influence the world.
