Synopsis/Plot
Elf is a 2003 American Christmas comedy film starring Will Ferrell as Buddy, a human who was adopted and raised by elves at the North Pole. After discovering his true identity, Buddy travels to New York City in search of his biological father. Along the way, he encounters the harsh realities of the human world, while also bringing Christmas cheer and joy to everyone he meets.
The movie begins with Buddy as a young elf who was adopted and raised by Papa Elf (Bob Newhart) at the North Pole. He is a misfit among the other elves due to his human size and lack of toy-making skills. After discovering his true identity, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his biological father, Walter Hobbs (James Caan). When he arrives, he finds that Walter is a workaholic who is on the naughty list and does not believe in the spirit of Christmas.
Buddy quickly finds a job at a department store, where he meets Jovie (Zooey Deschanel), a cynical yet kind-hearted woman who helps Buddy adjust to life in the city. As Buddy learns more about the human world, he also spreads Christmas cheer to everyone he meets, even Walter
