Synopsis – What to Expect from “Einstein and Eddington”
Einstein and Eddington is a 2008 biographical drama film based on the true story of the relationship between Albert Einstein and British astrophysicist Arthur Eddington during the early 20th century.
The film begins in 1914, as the world is on the brink of war. Arthur Eddington (David Tennant) is a British astrophysicist whose work is largely ignored by the scientific community. He is approached by a German professor to support Albert Einstein’s (Andy Serkis) revolutionary Theory of Relativity. Despite being warned of the consequences of associating with a German scientist, Eddington agrees to help Einstein.
The two scientists soon become close friends, and Eddington helps Einstein to publish his revolutionary theories. Despite the opposition of the British scientific establishment, Eddington takes a stand and defends Einstein’s work. He organizes a solar eclipse expedition to prove Einstein’s theories and makes a public statement in support of them.
The film follows the two scientists as they battle against the scientific establishment and the onset of World War I. Eddington’s loyalty to Einstein is tested when he is called to testify at a trial in Germany. The film culminates in a triumphant moment when Eddington’s expedition proves Einstein’s theories.
Einstein and Eddington is a powerful and inspiring story of friendship and loyalty in the face of adversity. It is a testament to the power of human resilience and the strength of the human spirit
