Edge of Seventeen is a coming-of-age drama film released in 1998. It follows the story of Eric Hunter (Chris Stafford), a high school student struggling to cope with the death of his older brother, and his own sexual awakening.
The film begins with Eric’s older brother, Brad (Trevor Fehrman), who is a popular and outgoing high school student. As Eric navigates his way through high school, he finds himself increasingly drawn to his best friend, Maggie (Andrea Bowen).
At the same time, Eric begins to explore his own sexuality and is attracted to his classmate, Rod (Eddie Kaye Thomas). As Eric’s feelings for Rod grow, he finds himself in a difficult position as he struggles to come to terms with his own identity.
Meanwhile, Eric’s mother, Sandy (Tina Majorino), is struggling to come to terms with the loss of her son and is determined to help Eric through his grief. She encourages him to open up to her and to seek out support from his friends.
