Synopsis/Plot
Earthquake Bird is a 2019 psychological thriller film directed by Wash Westmoreland and starring Alicia Vikander, Riley Keough, and Naoki Kobayashi. The film follows Lucy Fly (Vikander), an expatriate living in Tokyo who becomes embroiled in a complex love triangle with two locals. As her relationships with the two men become increasingly strained, Lucy finds herself the prime suspect in a murder investigation.
The film opens with Lucy living a solitary life in Tokyo, working as a translator and keeping to herself. She is drawn into a relationship with Teiji (Kobayashi), a mysterious photographer who is fascinated by her. As their relationship deepens, Lucy meets and begins a passionate affair with Lily (Keough), a young bar hostess. As Lucy’s relationships with both Teiji and Lily become strained, she finds herself the prime suspect in a murder investigation.
As the investigation progresses, Lucy is forced to confront her past and the secrets she has been keeping from her new friends.
