Synopsis – What to Expect from “Duel at Diablo”
Duel at Diablo is a 1966 western directed by Ralph Nelson and starring James Garner, Sidney Poitier, Bibi Andersson, and Bill Travers. The film follows the story of a cavalry scout, Jess Remsberg (Garner), who is sent to the Arizona territory in the 1870s to investigate a series of attacks on settlers by the Apache Indians.
When Jess arrives, he finds out that the Apache are being led by a mysterious warrior named El Segundo (Poitier). He also learns that El Segundo is in possession of a powerful medicine that he believes can be used to control the Apache. Jess teams up with a local rancher, Sam Varner (Travers), to try and broker a peace between the settlers and the Apache.
However, their efforts are complicated by the presence of a ruthless cavalry officer, Major Clint Wilkens (Andersson), who is determined to take the medicine from El Segundo and use it to subjugate the Apache. Jess and Sam must now race against time to find a way to save the Apache and broker a peace between the settlers and the Apache before Wilkens can get his hands on the medicine.
The two men face off in a dramatic duel at Diablo, with Jess and Sam fighting for the freedom of the Apache and Wilkens determined to take the medicine for himself. In the end, Jess and Sam are able to outwit Wilkens and broker a peace between the settlers and the
