Synopsis – What to Expect from “Dracula”
Dracula is a 1979 horror film directed by John Badham and based on the novel by Bram Stoker. The film stars Frank Langella as the titular vampire, and Laurence Olivier as his nemesis, Van Helsing.
The film follows the journey of Jonathan Harker (Trevor Eve) to Transylvania, where he is to meet with the mysterious Count Dracula (Frank Langella) in order to finalize a real estate transaction. Unbeknownst to him, Dracula is a vampire and intends to use Harker as a means of transporting himself to England.
Once in England, Dracula begins to wreak havoc upon the innocent people of the town, draining them of their blood. He also begins to pursue Mina Harker (Jan Francis), the wife of Jonathan, whom he believes is a reincarnation of his lost love, Elisabeta.
Meanwhile, the renowned vampire hunter, Van Helsing (Laurence Olivier), arrives in town to investigate the strange occurrences. He quickly deduces the truth about Dracula and begins to assemble a group to hunt him down.
The group eventually catches up with Dracula and does battle with him, but he manages to escape. However, Van Helsing has a plan to finally put an end to the vampire’s reign of terror. With the help of Mina, Van Helsing is able to lure Dracula into a church, where he is killed
