Synopsis – What to Expect from “Dr. T & the Women”
Dr. T & the Women is a 2000 American romantic comedy-drama film directed by Robert Altman and written by Anne Rapp. The film stars Richard Gere as Dr. Sullivan Travis, a wealthy Dallas gynecologist whose life is turned upside down when his wife Kate (Farrah Fawcett) leaves him for another man.
The film follows Dr. Travis as he navigates his life as a single man surrounded by women. His daughters Dee Dee (Kate Hudson) and Connie (Tara Reid), his sister-in-law Peggy (Laura Dern), his patient Bree (Shelley Long), and his nurse Carolyn (Liv Tyler) all have their own opinions and needs, and they all compete for Dr. Travis’ attention.
As Dr. Travis tries to make sense of his life, he is also trying to juggle the expectations of the women in his life. He must deal with his daughters’ desire for independence and his sister-in-law’s desire for him to reconcile with his wife. At the same time, he is trying to manage his patient Bree’s sexual needs and his nurse Carolyn’s romantic advances.
