Synopsis/Plot
Double Jeopardy is a 1999 American crime thriller film directed by Bruce Beresford and starring Tommy Lee Jones and Ashley Judd. The film follows Libby Parsons (Judd), a woman wrongfully convicted of murdering her husband who must outsmart the legal system to clear her name and get revenge.
Libby and her husband, Nick (Bruce Greenwood), are on a boat near the Gulf of Mexico when Nick is killed and Libby is arrested for his murder. She is convicted of the crime and sentenced to serve two consecutive life sentences. While in prison, Libby discovers that Nick faked his own death and is now living with a new identity. She is released from prison on parole and begins a journey to find Nick and get revenge.
Libby is aided by Travis Lehman (Tommy Lee Jones), a parole officer assigned to her case. Together, they travel across the country, tracking down clues to Nick’s whereabouts. Along the way, Libby and Travis uncover a web of deception and corruption that Nick is involved in. With the help of Travis, Libby must use her wits and skills to outsmart the authorities and clear her name.
