Synopsis/Plot
Dorian Gray is a 2009 fantasy drama film directed by Oliver Parker and starring Ben Barnes, Colin Firth, and Rebecca Hall. The film is based on the classic novel of the same name by Oscar Wilde, and tells the story of a young man named Dorian Gray who sells his soul to remain forever young and handsome.
Dorian Gray is a wealthy and handsome young man living in Victorian London. He meets the artist Basil Hallward, who is captivated by his beauty and paints a portrait of him. Dorian then meets Lord Henry Wotton, a hedonistic aristocrat who encourages him to pursue pleasure and disregard the consequences. Dorian wishes to remain young and beautiful forever, and his wish is granted when the picture of him in the portrait begins to age instead of him.
As the years pass, Dorian Gray becomes increasingly corrupted by his own selfish desires and immoral behavior, while his portrait continues to age and become increasingly disfigured. Despite his increasingly debauched lifestyle, Dorian remains outwardly beautiful and youthful. Eventually, his past sins catch up with him and he is forced to confront the consequences of his actions.
