Synopsis – What to Expect from “Dolphin Tale”
Dolphin Tale is a 2011 American drama film directed by Charles Martin Smith and starring Morgan Freeman, Ashley Judd, Harry Connick Jr., Nathan Gamble, and Kris Kristofferson. The film is based on the true story of a bottlenose dolphin named Winter, whose tail was lost in a crab trap. The film follows the journey of Winter and her rescuers as they work to create a prosthetic tail for her.
The film opens with a young boy named Sawyer (Nathan Gamble) and his friend, Kyle (Austin Stowell), who find a dolphin, caught in a crab trap, struggling for its life. They rescue her and name her Winter. Sawyer and his family take Winter to the Clearwater Marine Aquarium, where she is treated by the marine biologist, Dr. Clay Haskett (Harry Connick Jr.). Dr. Haskett and his team work to save Winter’s life, but soon realize that her tail has been severely damaged and cannot be repaired.
Sawyer is determined to help Winter and comes up with a plan to create a prosthetic tail for her. He meets with a prosthetic doctor, Dr. Cameron McCarthy (Morgan Freeman), who agrees to help. Together, they work to create a custom-made tail for Winter.
