Synopsis/Plot
Dogma is a 1999 American fantasy comedy film written and directed by Kevin Smith and starring Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Linda Fiorentino, Salma Hayek, Jason Lee, Alan Rickman, Chris Rock, and Jason Mewes. The film follows two fallen angels, Loki and Bartleby, who are banished from Heaven and sent to Wisconsin. After discovering a loophole in Catholic dogma that would allow them to reenter Heaven, they decide to take advantage of it.
Meanwhile, a woman named Bethany is chosen by God to stop them. She is aided by two prophets, Jay and Silent Bob, and a Muse named Serendipity. Along the way, the foursome encounter a wide variety of characters, including the demon Azrael, the archangel Metatron, and the demon-possessed Cardinal Glick.
The film is a satire of organized religion, and is filled with comedy, action, and fantasy. It features a strong ensemble cast and witty dialogue, as well as a soundtrack of classic rock songs. Dogma is an entertaining and thought-provoking film that is sure to entertain viewers of all ages.
