Synopsis – What to Expect from “Doctor Who: The Time of the Doctor”
Doctor Who: The Time of the Doctor is a 2013 Christmas special of the long-running British science fiction television series Doctor Who.
The story begins on the planet of Trenzalore, where the Doctor (Matt Smith) has been summoned by a mysterious signal. It is revealed that the signal is coming from a powerful Time Lord artifact known as the “Crack in Time,” which has the power to open a rift in the universe.
The Doctor discovers that the signal is actually a plea for help from the Time Lords, who are trapped in a pocket universe. The Doctor is tasked with saving them by closing the rift before it destroys the universe.
Meanwhile, the Doctor’s arch-nemesis, the Cybermen, have arrived on Trenzalore and plan to use the rift to invade the universe. The Doctor must enlist the help of his allies, including the mysterious Clara (Jenna Coleman), to help him close the rift and save the universe.
The Doctor and his allies face off against the Cybermen in a desperate battle to close the rift. In the end, the Doctor is forced to make a difficult decision: close the rift and save the universe, or remain on Trenzalore and protect the Time Lords.
The Doctor ultimately chooses to remain on Trenzalore and protect the Time Lords, sacrificing himself in the process. In a moving scene, the Doctor regenerates into his twelfth
