Synopsis – What to Expect from “Doctor Who: A Christmas Carol”
Doctor Who: A Christmas Carol is a 2010 British-American Christmas special of the British science-fiction television programme Doctor Who. It was written by Steven Moffat and directed by Toby Haynes.
The episode follows the Eleventh Doctor (Matt Smith) as he travels to the planet of Sardicktown on Christmas Eve to save the life of a young woman named Abigail Pettigrew (Katherine Jenkins). Abigail’s father, Kazran Sardick (Michael Gambon), is a wealthy and powerful man who has a deep hatred of Christmas. The Doctor attempts to change Kazran’s heart by using a time machine to travel back in time and show him the joys of the holiday season.
The Doctor takes Kazran back to his childhood and shows him the Christmas days of his past, including a time when Kazran was a young boy and his father was still alive. Through these experiences, Kazran begins to understand the importance of Christmas and the joy it can bring. The Doctor then takes Kazran back to the present and teaches him the power of forgiveness and redemption.
With the help of Abigail and the Doctor, Kazran is able to save his city from destruction and restore the spirit of Christmas. In the end, Kazran and Abigail are reunited and the Doctor departs, leaving them with the message that Christmas is a time of hope and joy.
