Synopsis/Plot
Doctor Dolittle is a 1998 fantasy-adventure comedy film directed by Betty Thomas and written by Larry Levin, based on the Doctor Dolittle stories by Hugh Lofting. The film stars Eddie Murphy in the title role, a doctor who can talk to animals. It also stars Ossie Davis, Oliver Platt, Peter Boyle, Richard Schiff, and Norm Macdonald, among others.
The story follows Doctor John Dolittle (Murphy), a doctor who has been able to talk to animals since childhood. He is forced to leave his home in England and travel to a mysterious island, where he meets a variety of strange creatures. Along the way, he must help the animals of the island and save them from the evil plans of the villain, Dr. Mark Weller (Platt). With the help of his friends, a parrot, a monkey, and a bear, Dolittle must find a way to save the animals and restore peace to the island.
