Synopsis – What to Expect from “D.O.A.”
D.O.A. is a 1950 film noir directed by Rudolph Maté and starring Edmond O’Brien as Frank Bigelow, a man who discovers he has been poisoned and has only a few days to live.
The film begins with Bigelow arriving in San Francisco for a vacation. He quickly meets a beautiful woman named Paula Gibson, and the two quickly hit it off. However, after they have a night out on the town, Bigelow wakes up feeling ill.
Bigelow soon discovers that he has been poisoned with a slow-acting toxin. He has only a few days left to live, and he decides to use the time to find out who poisoned him and why.
Bigelow’s investigation leads him to a shady nightclub owner named Pinky, who is involved in a counterfeiting ring. Bigelow soon finds out that Pinky was the one who poisoned him, and that he was hired by a mysterious figure called “The Man in the Green Hat”.
Bigelow confronts Pinky and forces him to confess his involvement in the counterfeiting ring. However, Pinky is killed before he can reveal the identity of the Man in the Green Hat.
Bigelow then sets out to find the Man in the Green Hat, while also trying to unravel the mystery of why he was poisoned in the first place. He eventually discovers that the Man in the Green Hat is a former Nazi scientist
