Synopsis/Plot
DOA: Dead or Alive is an action-packed martial arts film based on the popular video game series of the same name. It follows four female combatants as they compete in a mysterious martial arts tournament on a remote island. The four fighters, Tina Armstrong, Christie Allen, Kasumi, and Helena Douglas, must battle each other and a host of other combatants in order to win the tournament and its grand prize. Along the way, they must also battle a group of mercenaries hired by the tournament’s mysterious host to eliminate the competitors.
The film is directed by Corey Yuen and stars Jaime Pressly, Devon Aoki, Holly Valance, and Sarah Carter. The action sequences are choreographed by legendary Hong Kong action director Yuen Woo-ping, and feature a combination of martial arts styles including karate, judo, aikido, and taekwondo. The film also features a variety of special effects and stunts, including explosions, car chases, and motorcycle stunts.
