Synopsis/Plot
Dinner for Schmucks is a 2010 American comedy film directed by Jay Roach and starring Steve Carell and Paul Rudd. The film is based on the 1998 French comedy Le Dîner de Cons.
The story follows Tim (Rudd), an up-and-coming executive who is invited to his boss’s monthly dinner, where the guests must bring the most eccentric person they can find. Tim meets Barry (Carell), an IRS employee with a passion for creating dioramas out of stuffed mice. Tim is initially reluctant to bring Barry to the dinner, but eventually decides to do so, setting off a series of disastrous events.
The film follows Tim and Barry as they navigate their way through a series of misadventures, including a disastrous dinner with Tim’s boss, a wild night of partying, and a series of misunderstandings. Along the way, Tim learns important lessons about friendship and loyalty, while Barry discovers a newfound confidence in himself.
