Diggstown is a 1992 drama film directed by Michael Ritchie and starring James Woods, Louis Gossett Jr., and Bruce Dern. The movie is set in a small town in the American South, and centers around a con artist, Gabriel Caine (Woods), who arrives in Diggstown looking to make a quick buck.
Gabriel quickly finds himself embroiled in a high-stakes boxing match with a local champion, John Gillon (Gossett Jr.). The match is a gamble for Gabriel, as the townspeople have bet heavily on Gillon and will not accept any other outcome. With the help of his partner, Jake (Dern), Gabriel must find a way to win the match and make a profit while avoiding the town’s thugs and gangsters.
The movie follows Gabriel as he attempts to outsmart the locals and win the match. Along the way, Gabriel discovers the town’s dark secrets and discovers the truth behind the town’s shady dealings. With his life on the line, Gabriel must use his wits and cunning to survive and win the match.
In the end, Gabriel is victorious and manages to make a profit on the match. He also learns an important lesson about life and the importance of standing up for oneself. The movie ends with Gabriel and Jake leaving Diggstown and heading off to their next adventure.
