Synopsis – What to Expect from “Diabolique”
Diabolique is a psychological thriller directed by Jeremiah S. Chechik and released in 1996. The movie follows the story of two women, Nicole (Isabelle Adjani) and Christina (Sharon Stone), who are both married to the same man, Michel (Chazz Palminteri). The two women, who have been longtime friends, hatch a plan to murder Michel and make it look like an accident.
The two women enlist the help of a shady doctor, Dr. Barre (Spalding Gray) to help them with their plan. After Michel’s death, the two women try to cover up their crime, but their plan starts to unravel when strange things start to happen. Mysterious phone calls, strange noises, and the discovery of Michel’s body in a pool of water lead the women to believe that Michel’s spirit is still haunting them.
As the police investigate, the two women must face the consequences of their actions. Meanwhile, the doctor is also caught up in the investigation and his own dark secrets are revealed. In the end, the two women must confront their guilt and come to terms with their actions.
