Synopsis – What to Expect from “Dear Dictator”
Dear Dictator is a 2018 comedy starring Michael Caine and Odeya Rush. It follows the story of a rebellious teen, Tatiana (Odeya Rush), who is fed up with her strict, authoritarian father and decides to write to her favorite dictator, General Anton Vincent (Michael Caine), for advice.
When General Vincent unexpectedly shows up at her door, Tatiana is shocked, but soon realizes that the dictator has escaped his own country and is seeking refuge in her home. Tatiana welcomes him in and the two form an unlikely bond.
General Vincent helps Tatiana stand up to her father by teaching her about the power of dictatorship and how to take control of her own life. Tatiana begins to question her father’s authority and learns to become independent.
At the same time, General Vincent is being pursued by the CIA and Tatiana must help him evade capture. She also begins to understand the consequences of her actions and learns that being a dictator isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.
In the end, Tatiana and General Vincent must make a difficult decision: will they risk their lives to make a stand for freedom or will they succumb to the powers that be?
