Synopsis – What to Expect from “Dating Amber”
Dating Amber is a heartfelt and comedic coming-of-age story set in Ireland in the 1990s. Eddie and Amber are two high schoolers who, in order to avoid being outed for being gay, decide to pretend to be a couple.
After making a pact to stay in the closet, the two embark on an awkward and comedic journey of self-discovery. Along the way, they learn to accept their true selves and find comfort in each other.
The film follows Eddie and Amber as they navigate the highs and lows of high school and the complexities of being closeted gay teenagers. As they struggle to keep up their charade, they face bullying, rejection, and the fear of being outed.
The two ultimately come to realize that they can’t keep up the facade forever. With the help of their friends, family, and teachers, they come to accept themselves and each other.
