Synopsis – What to Expect from “Dance Academy: The Movie”
Dance Academy: The Movie is a 2017 Australian musical drama film directed by Jeffrey Walker. The film is a continuation of the popular Australian TV series Dance Academy, which ran from 2010 to 2013.
The film follows Tara Webster (Xenia Goodwin), an ambitious dancer from Australia who has just been accepted to the National Academy of Dance in New York City. Tara is determined to make the most of her new opportunity, but quickly finds that she is out of her depth as she struggles to keep up with the more experienced dancers.
Meanwhile, her old friends from the Academy in Australia, Abigail (Dena Kaplan), Sammy (Tom Green), and Christian (Jordan Rodrigues) have all gone their separate ways. Abigail has become a successful dancer in Paris, Sammy is studying engineering at university, and Christian is traveling the world.
When Tara learns that the National Academy of Dance is hosting an international dance competition, she sees it as a chance to prove herself to her peers. She enlists the help of her old friends to help her prepare, and they all come together to form a unique and dynamic dance team.
As the competition heats up, Tara and her team must face off against the world’s best dancers, all while dealing with their own personal struggles. In the end, Tara will have to find the courage to stand up for herself and her friends, and prove to the world that she has what it takes to be a champion.
