Synopsis – What to Expect from “Dan in Real Life”
Dan in Real Life is a romantic comedy film released in 2007. The story follows Dan Burns, a widowed father of three daughters. Dan works as a newspaper advice columnist and is trying to move on with his life after the death of his wife.
At the start of the movie, Dan takes his daughters on a family holiday to his parents’ house in Rhode Island. While there, he meets Marie, a beautiful woman who turns out to be the girlfriend of his brother Mitch. Dan is instantly smitten with Marie, and the two begin a secret romance.
Meanwhile, Dan’s daughters are also finding love on the holiday. His eldest daughter, Cara, has a crush on a local boy named Jimmy, while his youngest daughter, Lilly, is trying to set her father up with a family friend named Ruth.
As Dan and Marie’s relationship develops, Dan finds himself struggling to balance his feelings for her with his loyalty to his brother. Eventually, Dan’s family discovers his secret and is outraged. Dan is forced to make a decision between his family and Marie.
