Synopsis – What to Expect from “Crying Freeman”
Crying Freeman is a 1995 Japanese action drama film directed by Shōhei Imamura and based on the manga of the same name by Kazuo Koike and Ryoichi Ikegami.
The film follows the story of Yo Hinomura (Yûrei Yanagi), a Japanese potter who is chosen by a mysterious Chinese secret society as their ‘Freeman’, an assassin with no name or identity. Yo is trained in martial arts and given the ability to cry tears of sorrow for his victims.
Yo is sent to Japan to carry out his mission, and soon finds himself in a battle with the powerful and influential Oyabun, a Yakuza leader who has been using his power to control the Japanese underworld. Yo must use his newfound skills to defeat the Oyabun and his henchmen, while at the same time trying to discover the truth about his past.
The film follows Yo as he seeks revenge against the Oyabun and his henchmen, while at the same time trying to unravel the mystery of his past. Along the way, he meets several allies and enemies who help him in his mission, while also coming to terms with his own identity and past.
In the end, Yo defeats the Oyabun and his henchmen, and discovers the truth about his past and his identity. In the end, Yo is able to embrace his true identity and accept his role as the Crying Freeman.
