Synopsis/Plot
Crimson Tide is a 1995 American submarine film directed by Tony Scott, and produced by Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer. It takes place during a period of political turmoil in the Russian Federation, and stars Denzel Washington and Gene Hackman as members of the crew of a nuclear missile submarine.
The USS Alabama is sent on a mission to the Barents Sea to prevent a renegade Russian general from starting a nuclear war. On board, the crew is divided into two factions, led by the executive officer, Commander Ron Hunter (Washington), and the commanding officer, Captain Frank Ramsey (Hackman). Hunter is a by-the-book officer who believes in following orders to the letter, while Ramsey is a more experienced and pragmatic commander who believes in making decisions based on the situation at hand.
When the Alabama receives a suspicious order to launch its nuclear missiles, the two officers must put aside their differences and work together to prevent a potential disaster. As the tension mounts, the crew is forced to make a difficult decision: whether to obey orders or follow their own moral code.
