Synopsis – What to Expect from “Countess Dracula”
Countess Dracula is a 1971 British horror film directed by Peter Sasdy and starring Ingrid Pitt and Nigel Green. The film is based on the legend of Elizabeth Bathory, a Hungarian countess who was accused of bathing in the blood of young women to maintain her youthful beauty.
The film begins with the Countess Elizabeth Bathory, a wealthy Hungarian noblewoman, living in her castle in the 17th century. She is obsessed with maintaining her youthful beauty and has heard of a magical elixir that can keep her looking young. She sends her servant, Ilona, to find this elixir, and Ilona returns with a vial of the blood of young women.
Countess Dracula then begins to bathe in the blood of young women, believing it will keep her looking young. However, her actions are discovered by the authorities and she is put on trial for her crimes. She is sentenced to death, but before she can be executed, she makes a pact with the devil to gain immortality.
The story then moves to the present day, where the Countess has been resurrected and is living in a castle in the Carpathian Mountains. She has become a vampire, and is now preying on young women to feed her thirst for blood.
Meanwhile, a young man named Paul has come to the castle to investigate the strange occurrences. He soon discovers the Countess’ secret and must find a way to stop her before she can kill again
