Synopsis – What to Expect from “Concrete Cowboy”
Concrete Cowboy is an inspiring story of a father and son struggling to keep their family’s urban cowboy tradition alive in North Philadelphia. Fifteen-year-old Cole (Caleb McLaughlin) is sent to live with his estranged father Harp (Idris Elba) in the city and finds himself immersed in the vibrant and dangerous world of urban cowboys.
When Cole’s mother sends him to live with his father, he is met with a cold reception from Harp who is struggling to keep his cowboy culture alive in the city. As Cole begins to explore his new environment, he meets the other cowboys, including Smush (Jharrel Jerome), a street-smart teen who quickly becomes Cole’s mentor and guide.
Cole quickly learns the ropes of the cowboy lifestyle, from riding horses to herding cattle, and begins to understand the importance of the cowboy culture in the city. But when he discovers that Harp is in danger of losing the family’s stables, Cole must fight to keep the tradition alive.
With the help of Smush and the other cowboys, Cole learns to be an urban cowboy and to stand up for what he believes in. He also discovers the importance of family and the power of friendship. In the end, Cole and Harp must put aside their differences and come together to save the stables and keep the cowboy tradition alive.
