Synopsis/Plot
Colossal is a 2016 science fiction-comedy film directed by Nacho Vigalondo and starring Anne Hathaway and Jason Sudeikis. The movie follows Gloria (Hathaway), an unemployed party girl who moves back to her small hometown after a break-up and discovers that her actions are mysteriously linked to a giant monster that has appeared in South Korea.
Gloria is a young woman who is struggling to put her life back together after a break-up and a drinking problem. She moves back to her small hometown and reconnects with her childhood friend, Oscar (Sudeikis), who runs a bar. After a night of drinking, Gloria discovers that her actions are mysteriously linked to a giant monster that has appeared in South Korea. It soon becomes clear that the monster is a manifestation of her own inner turmoil and she must find a way to control it before it destroys everything.
The movie explores themes of responsibility, self-discovery, and redemption as Gloria battles her own inner demons while trying to save the world from the giant monster. Along the way, she learns to take responsibility for her actions and discovers her own inner strength. The movie is a unique blend of science fiction, comedy
