Synopsis – What to Expect from “College Road Trip”
College Road Trip is a 2008 American family comedy film directed by Roger Kumble and starring Martin Lawrence, Raven-Symoné, Donny Osmond, and Brenda Song.
The film follows Melanie Porter (Raven-Symoné), an ambitious high school student who has been accepted to Georgetown University, and her father, James Porter (Martin Lawrence), who is very protective of his daughter. When Melanie tells her father that she plans to take a college road trip to visit Georgetown, he insists on chaperoning her.
The road trip begins with Melanie and James travelling in his police car to the various college campuses. Along the way, they encounter a variety of obstacles, including an obnoxious tourist family, a biker gang, and a group of college students who challenge them to a game of basketball.
At each college campus, Melanie and James are exposed to different lifestyles and cultures, which leads to arguments between them. Melanie also meets several potential suitors, including a college student named Donny (Donny Osmond) and a student named Seth (Matthew Lawrence).
Eventually, Melanie and James reach Georgetown University, where Melanie is interviewed by the admissions board and learns that she has been accepted. However, on the way back home, James and Melanie get into a heated argument and James ends up getting arrested.
