Synopsis/Plot
CODA is a 2021 American drama film directed by Sian Heder and starring Emilia Jones, Eugenio Derbez, Troy Kotsur, Marlee Matlin, and Daniel Durant.
The story follows Ruby (Emilia Jones), a young deaf girl who is the only hearing member of her family. Despite her family’s strict adherence to their deaf culture, Ruby has a passion for singing and dreams of becoming a professional singer. When her father (Eugenio Derbez) suffers a stroke, Ruby must decide between following her dreams and staying with her family to help them keep their fishing business afloat.
Ruby’s journey is filled with obstacles as she navigates both the hearing and deaf worlds.
