Synopsis/Plot
Cocktail is a 1988 romantic comedy-drama film directed by Roger Donaldson and starring Tom Cruise, Bryan Brown, and Elisabeth Shue. The film follows the story of Brian Flanagan, a young man from New York who moves to Jamaica to become a bartender. With the help of his mentor, Doug Coughlin (Brown), Brian learns the tricks of the trade, and soon becomes a successful and popular bartender.
Brian meets and falls in love with a beautiful and wealthy woman, Jordan Mooney (Shue). Although they come from different worlds, they are drawn together by their mutual love of the nightlife. Things become complicated when Doug’s old flame, Coral (Gina Gershon), shows up and makes a play for Brian.
The movie follows Brian as he navigates the complexities of his love triangle, while also trying to make a success of his career. Along the way, he discovers the importance of friendship, loyalty, and hard work. Through his experiences, Brian learns to find the balance between responsibility and fun, and discovers what really matters in life.
