Synopsis – What to Expect from “Club Paradise”
Club Paradise is a 1986 comedy film directed by Harold Ramis and starring Robin Williams, Peter O’Toole, and Twiggy Lawson. It tells the story of Jack Moniker (Williams), a Chicago firefighter who is forced to take a vacation in the Caribbean island of St. Nicholas.
Jack arrives in St. Nicholas and is immediately welcomed by the locals, who have a reputation for being laid-back and carefree. He soon meets a beautiful local girl named Valerie (Twiggy Lawson) and falls for her instantly. The two quickly become close and Jack is soon introduced to the island’s nightlife and culture.
Meanwhile, Jack’s old friend, Mayor Fred O’Toole (Peter O’Toole), arrives on the island with a plan to develop St. Nicholas into a tourist destination. He wants to build a giant resort and casino on the island, which will bring in much-needed money for the locals. However, the locals are not happy with the idea and they band together to fight the development.
Jack is caught in the middle of the conflict and he must decide whether to side with his friend or the locals. Ultimately, Jack and Valerie come up with a plan to save the island. They create a new attraction called Club Paradise, which brings tourists to the island without destroying the environment.
