Synopsis – What to Expect from “Clockers”
Clockers is a 1995 crime drama film directed by Spike Lee and adapted from the 1992 novel of the same name by Richard Price. The film stars Harvey Keitel, John Turturro, Delroy Lindo, Mekhi Phifer, and Isaiah Washington.
The film follows Strike (Mekhi Phifer), a young drug dealer in Brooklyn’s Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood. Strike is under the thumb of Rodney Little (Delroy Lindo), a local drug kingpin, and his brother Victor (Isaiah Washington). Strike is caught in a power struggle between Rodney and Victor, and is forced to make a difficult decision when he is asked to murder a rival drug dealer.
Meanwhile, police detective Rocco Klein (Harvey Keitel) is investigating a murder in the neighborhood. He is determined to get to the bottom of the case, and strikes up an unlikely friendship with Strike in the process.
As Strike struggles to choose between loyalty to his employer and loyalty to himself, Rocco and Strike must both come to terms with the harsh realities of life in the inner city. Through their interactions, both men come to understand the complexities of the world around them.
The film shows how the choices made by Strike and Rocco have far-reaching consequences for themselves and for the people in their lives. It is a powerful story of loyalty, morality, and the consequences of choices made in a world of violence and drugs.
