Synopsis – What to Expect from “Clay Pigeons”
Clay Pigeons is a 1998 crime-thriller film directed by David Dobkin and starring Vince Vaughn, Joaquin Phoenix, and Janeane Garofalo. The film follows two unlikely friends, Clay Bidwell (Vaughn) and Lester Long (Phoenix), as they struggle to survive in a rural town in Montana.
Clay is a young man who is trying to make it on his own in a small town that is full of secrets and secrets keepers. He works at a local diner and is struggling to make ends meet. He meets Lester, a drifter and loner who has a dark past. The two become unlikely friends and Lester helps Clay find a job as a ranch hand.
At the ranch, Clay meets the beautiful and mysterious Amanda (Garofalo). Clay is instantly attracted to her and begins to fall in love. Meanwhile, Lester’s dark past catches up with him and he is forced to confront his demons. As Clay and Lester’s friendship deepens, Clay discovers that Lester is a serial killer and is responsible for a string of unsolved murders in the area.
Clay is torn between his loyalty to his friend and his desire to protect the innocent people around him. He must decide whether to turn Lester in or keep his secret. As Clay and Lester’s friendship is tested, Clay must also come to terms with his own dark secrets and find the courage to face the truth.
