Synopsis – What to Expect from “Class of 1984”
Class of 1984 is a 1982 Canadian-American action-thriller film directed by Mark L. Lester. The film follows a young music teacher, Andrew Norris (Perry King), as he takes a job at a tough inner-city school and his attempts to protect his students from a gang of violent punks led by Peter Stegman (Timothy Van Patten).
The movie begins when Andrew Norris takes a job as a music teacher at Lincoln High School, a tough inner-city school with a long history of violence and gang activity. He quickly finds himself in the middle of a power struggle between the school’s principal, Mr. Corrigan (Roddy McDowall), and the leader of the school’s most notorious gang, Peter Stegman (Timothy Van Patten).
At first, Andrew tries to ignore the violence and focus on teaching music, but when his students are threatened by Stegman and his gang, he takes action and stands up to them. He rallies the other teachers and students to his cause, and they form an unlikely alliance to fight back against the gang.
With the help of a sympathetic police officer (Michael J. Fox), Andrew and his allies attempt to take down Stegman and his gang. In the process, Andrew learns to become a leader and discovers that he can make a difference in the lives of his students. Ultimately, Andrew and his allies are able to defeat Stegman and his gang
