Synopsis – What to Expect from “C.H.U.D.”
C.H.U.D. is a 1984 horror/sci-fi film directed by Douglas Cheek and starring John Heard, Daniel Stern, and Kim Greist.
The movie takes place in New York City, where a mysterious series of disappearances have been happening. People from all walks of life are vanishing without a trace, and the police are stumped. Meanwhile, a photographer named George Cooper (John Heard) is investigating the disappearances, and he discovers that the missing people were last seen near the sewers.
As George investigates further, he discovers a secret government laboratory that is conducting experiments on the homeless population of the city. It turns out that the experiments have created a race of mutant creatures known as C.H.U.D.s (Cannibalistic Humanoid Underground Dwellers).
The C.H.U.D.s are now roaming the sewers of the city, and it’s up to George and his friends to stop them before they can cause any more destruction. Along the way, they must also find a way to stop the government laboratory from continuing their experiments.
The movie is a thrilling, suspenseful, and sometimes terrifying ride as George and his friends battle the C.H.U.D.s and the government forces. In the end, they must use their wits and courage to save the city from the monsters that lurk beneath its streets.
