Synopsis – What to Expect from “Chuck”
Chuck is a 2017 biographical sports drama film directed by Philippe Falardeau and written by Jeff Feuerzeig and Jerry Stahl. The film stars Liev Schreiber as Chuck Wepner, a New Jersey club fighter who went 15 rounds with Muhammad Ali in 1975 and inspired the character of Rocky Balboa.
The film starts with a young Chuck Wepner (Morgan Spector) dreaming of becoming a professional boxer. He starts training and soon makes a name for himself in the local club fighting circuit. After a few wins, he is offered a chance to fight Muhammad Ali for the heavyweight championship. Despite being a major underdog, Chuck puts up a brave fight and manages to last 15 rounds.
The fight earns him fame and fortune and he soon finds himself living the high life. He begins to party and drink heavily, and his marriage to his wife Phyllis (Naomi Watts) suffers as a result. He also becomes involved in questionable activities, including drug dealing and illegal gambling.
Meanwhile, Sylvester Stallone sees the fight and is inspired to write the screenplay for Rocky. Chuck is offered a small amount of money for the rights to his story, but he turns it down.
As his fame fades, Chuck finds himself struggling to make ends meet. He begins to spiral into depression and his marriage falls apart. He eventually finds solace in the company of a young woman named Linda (Elisabeth Moss). With her
