Synopsis – What to Expect from “Chisum”
Chisum is a western adventure film released in 1970. It tells the story of John Chisum, a legendary cattle baron in New Mexico during the late 1800s.
The film begins with Chisum (John Wayne) arriving in Lincoln County, New Mexico, to start a cattle ranch. He quickly becomes a successful rancher, but his success attracts the attention of some local businessmen who are looking to take advantage of the situation. The businessmen, led by Lawrence Murphy (Forrest Tucker), attempt to buy out Chisum’s ranch, but he refuses to sell.
The businessmen then begin a campaign of intimidation against Chisum, hiring a band of outlaws led by Billy the Kid (Geoffrey Deuel) to harass and threaten Chisum and his employees. Chisum is determined to stand his ground, and he soon finds allies in the form of a local lawman (Ben Johnson) and a retired army officer (Glenn Corbett).
Together, Chisum and his allies fight back against the businessmen and their outlaws. In the process, Chisum discovers that the businessmen are part of a larger conspiracy involving a powerful railroad company. Chisum and his allies must now find a way to stop the powerful railroad company and bring justice to Lincoln County.
The film culminates in a dramatic showdown between Chisum and the businessmen. In the end, Chisum and his allies emerge victorious
