Synopsis – What to Expect from “Chicken”
Chicken is a 2022 American comedy-drama film directed by Ryan Coogler and starring Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, and Idris Elba.
The story follows the life of a young African-American man named Roy (Michael B. Jordan), who is currently living in an impoverished neighborhood in Los Angeles. Roy works as a cook in a small diner, but his dream is to become a professional chef. He is also struggling with a strained relationship with his father, who is a former drug addict.
One day, Roy is approached by a local gang leader named Big Bird (Idris Elba) who offers him a job in his restaurant. Roy reluctantly accepts the offer, and soon finds himself working in a high-end restaurant. He discovers that Big Bird is not only a ruthless criminal, but also a talented chef. Roy begins to learn the craft of cooking from Big Bird, and the two form an unlikely bond.
Meanwhile, Roy’s father is trying to get clean and is desperate to reconnect with his son. Roy is determined to make a better life for himself and his father, but he is caught between his loyalty to Big Bird and his desire to make his own way in the world.
