Cheaper by the Dozen is a 2003 American family comedy film starring Steve Martin and Bonnie Hunt. The film is based on the autobiographical book of the same name by Frank Bunker Gilbreth Jr. and Ernestine Gilbreth Carey, and follows the story of the Gilbreth family, a large family living in a small town in the United States.
Tom Baker (Steve Martin) is a successful efficiency expert who works from home and is married to Kate Baker (Bonnie Hunt). Together, they have twelve children, ranging in age from toddler to teen. The family is a close-knit one, and Tom and Kate are determined to make sure their children get the best education and opportunities possible.
The family’s life is thrown into chaos when Tom is offered a job in Chicago. He accepts, but the family is reluctant to move, and the strain of the move takes its toll on the family.
