Synopsis – What to Expect from “Chapter 27”
Chapter 27 is a 2007 biographical drama written and directed by J.P. Schaefer. It stars Jared Leto as John Lennon’s assassin, Mark David Chapman, and Lindsay Lohan as Jude, a fictional character based on a real-life fan of Lennon’s.
The movie begins with Chapman arriving in New York City with the intention of killing Lennon. He checks into a hotel and starts to plan his attack. He visits the Dakota Building, where Lennon lives, and takes pictures of the building. He then begins to stalk Lennon, following him around the city and attending his concerts.
Meanwhile, Jude is a young fan of Lennon’s who idolizes him. She meets Chapman and starts to develop a strange relationship with him. She is unaware of his true intentions and believes he is just a fan like her.
Chapman continues to plan his attack while Jude grows more and more attached to him. He eventually purchases a gun and begins to prepare for the assassination. On the night of the attack, Chapman is filled with fear and doubt, but eventually goes through with it. He shoots Lennon four times, killing him instantly.
The movie then follows Jude as she struggles to come to terms with what Chapman has done. She visits him in prison and tries to understand why he did it. In the end, she realizes that Chapman was driven by his own personal demons and that he was never really a fan of Lennon’s. She learns to forgive him
