The movie begins with Nikki receiving a chain letter via text message. She is instructed to forward the message to five people or else she will be killed. Nikki, Bobby, Deacon, and Chas all receive the message and attempt to find out who sent it.
They soon discover that the messages are being sent by a serial killer known as “The Followers”. The Followers are a group of people who have been killing people for years and are now targeting Nikki and her friends.
The friends must find a way to stop the Followers before they become their next victims. They enlist the help of a mysterious hacker to help them track down the Followers and find out who is behind the chain letter.
The friends soon realize that the Followers are not the only ones after them. They must also contend with a powerful and dangerous cult that has been following them since the beginning.
