Synopsis/Plot
Cell is a 2016 science fiction horror film directed by Tod Williams and based on the 2006 novel of the same name by Stephen King. The film stars John Cusack, Samuel L. Jackson, Isabelle Fuhrman, Owen Teague, and Stacy Keach.
The film follows Clay Riddell (Cusack), a struggling artist who is trying to reunite with his estranged wife and son in Boston. As he is traveling by train, a mysterious signal is broadcasted across the world. Anyone who hears it is transformed into a mindless, zombie-like creature, known as a “phoner”. Clay soon finds himself in a desperate battle for survival as he attempts to protect his family from the hordes of phoners that have taken over the city.
Throughout the film, Clay is aided by Tom McCourt (Jackson), a former soldier who is immune to the signal. Together, they must battle their way through the city in an attempt to save Clay’s family. Along the way, they also discover the source of the signal and the mysterious purpose behind it.
Cell is a thrilling and intense film that blends horror, science fiction, and action into an entertaining and suspenseful story.
